Cooking at Home vs. Eating Out. What’s Better?

Going out as a family is a special kind of celebration. You anticipate a relaxing evening with your family in a nice restaurant, but at some point, things may not go according to your ideal plan.

The restaurant may not have child seats: a child sitting on your lap or crawling under the table all evening. The children’s menu has the standard set: sausages, burgers, fries, and sweets. The child is hungry, crying, or, on the contrary, he ate and wants to sleep. The mood is ruined, everyone packed up and went home. A familiar story? To make sure it doesn’t happen again, have a family dinner in the comfort of your home. Here, everything is sure to go according to your perfect plan, and your family can personally thank the restaurant’s chef. However, everyone has long known the stereotype that eating at home is:

  • cheap;
  • tasty;
  • safe (without unnecessary risks of poisoning);
  • healthy.

And we don’t agree with them at all! Let’s discuss in this article all the minuses and pluses of dinner, or any other meal at home or away from home.

Of course, in this matter, everyone chooses where to eat dinner, but I know a lot of wealthy people who could well eat at restaurants even every day, but they even take home-cooked food to work.

So Why Does It Happen?

For the most part, the desire to eat home-cooked food is instilled in us from childhood, as it is most often associated with the home of parents or relatives.

  • First, parents often told us “you need to eat at home,” “home food tastes better,” “you can not get poisoned at home,” etc. From these phrases in the child formed the view that only home food is safe, tasty, and useful.
  • Secondly, we were told that only people who make money dishonestly go to restaurants, and they say it is very expensive. Yeah, the baby remembered again.
  • Thirdly, mom could speak negatively about the food at guests or cafes, adding “and this dish tastes better at my place.

We all have our own stereotypes and attitudes about eating out. But in our time it is definitely not relevant! I suggest we look at the pros and cons of eating at home and at specialty establishments in order.

    A Comfortable Atmosphere and Setting

Suitable for those who prefer to be in the circle of loved ones without strangers. You are also free to eat lying down, as you are the master of the house.

    No Time Constraints

At home, you are unlikely to be told that the next guests are coming soon, and your dinner is coming to an end.

    You Only Pay for What You Buy

You invest your labor, time, and money for the products in cooking, but you can save on service and the difference between the cost of the dish and the product itself.

    Who Cooks, Chooses the Menu

A definite plus is that in theory, you can cook everything at home if you have sufficient cooking skills. But this is only in theory since in practice not everyone cooks at the level of the chef of a decent restaurant.

    An Occasion to Stay Together

A romantic dinner is a perfect excuse to stay in an intimate setting at home with your significant other.

“FOR” Dinner at A Restaurant

    Time and Energy

It takes a lot of time and energy to cook something tasty or not so tasty. On top of that, time is spent going grocery shopping. And you just have to come to a restaurant and enjoy it.

    Positive Emotions and Romance

The atmosphere in a restaurant is considered romantic and ideal for dating. Of course, you can also arrange a “romance” at home, but too frequent home dinners will not bring as many emotions.

    Cleaning

I do not know who loves to wash mountains of dirty dishes. For everyone, this is the absolute downside of cooking at home, although it is unavoidable. And if seriously, there is no place to put the miracle machine in the apartment, and, moreover, in a rented apartment somehow do not want to install the equipment at your expense.

    The Quality of Food and Its Limitations

Even if a person cooks perfectly, he is most likely to have his own specialties, and he can hardly cook absolutely everything on the highest level. But with restaurants, the case is easier – we choose a restaurant according to preference.

    The Feeling of a Feast

A visit to a restaurant obliges us to dress up, put on makeup and hair (more important for girls). All this pleasant hassle adds to the solemnity of the importance of the event. It is because of such occasions we love ourselves even more.

Results

No matter how appetizing homemade food may seem, every person occasionally has a desire to break the established tradition of a family meal and please his family with a visit to a respectable place with a beautiful interior and original cuisine. And this is not because of neglecting the usual dishes, prepared with a definite heart, but rather from the desire to break the usual routine that deprives the modern man of elementary pleasures.

But not always the desire to have dinner or supper outside the house is dictated by some significant events. Sometimes there is simply no time to cook, but it is possible to regularly go to restaurants – and this is normal. Often you want to celebrate a friend’s anniversary or throw a party for a loved one – and here, too, you need to show your worth.

Bottom Line

Of course, the arguments in favor of home dining or going to a restaurant are many and they are different for everyone. By the way, it would be interesting to know where you like to dine out more.
